What’s your Social ROI?

Part of social media success is tracking your results. Do you know what leads and sales have come from your social networking efforts? Today let’s talk about simple ways you can start tracking results to better understand how your efforts are converting for your business.

Let’s start with your shoppingcart program. If you use a system like 1ShoppingCart or InfusionSoft follow these steps to work your tracking right into your existing system.

Setup an internal affiliate. This allows you to have a tracking link for every promotion you have and you will be able to measure how many leads and sales come in with your promotions. Setup your internal affiliate and then grab the tracking link for that affiliate. Now use this link in all your social media promotions.

Setup an adtracker in 1ShoppingCart. We use this strategy with our clients when we’re driving ongoing traffic to a URL but don’t want that link to appear in the affiliate programs. A few ideas where you can use this:

  • Your newsletter/ezine sign up page
  • An evergreen video training series
  • A Facebook ad campaign

If you don’t have a cart program you can still track how many clicks your links are getting. This will enable you to see how much traffic is actually headed to your destinations from your social accounts.

Bit.ly You can setup a short tracking link with a free bit.ly account. For each link you will have a nice graph with demographic and click through stats. You won’t be able to see exactly which sales and leads came from this traffic but this a great place to start!

The other option is a more all in compassing system like HootSuite, which by-the-way is my favorite social media system and the #1 one recommendation I make to all of our clients! When you compose or schedule social media posts you can shorten the links right on the spot. Then HootSuite puts together some amazing click through information for you! Great stuff. I highly recommend this quick and easy option if you don’t have a cart system.

Now it’s your turn. Pick one of these options that will work for your business and start implementing. Remember you don’t have to do this alone! Ask a virtual assistant for help setting up and managing these systems for you.

To your social success!

One of the biggest questions we receive from our clients is what time should they post on Facebook, Twitter, etc. We like to do testing with their accounts and their target audience to get their customized best times but there are general better times to post as well.

I found this great infographic that lays out the details with best and worst times for the major social networks. Take a peek and jump on the top engagement times!

These are just like a coupon you use at any store, you’re simply mass distributing it. Watch this awesome video from Facebook that shows exactly how far your reach can go.

Before you can use Facebook offers you have to have over 400 likes, then you’re ready to rock the offers!

To start creating your offer jump over to your Facebook Business Page. To get started, look where you normally post an update and click on “Offer/Event+”. Now you’re going to choose the type of offer you’d like to make on Facebook; In Store, In Store and Online, or Online Only. Now you’ll follow the prompts to setup your offer.

Let’s chat about a few ways to increase your conversions with these Facebook Offers so you can get have the best possible results this holiday season.

Visual Appeal
You’ll have the opportunity to upload a thumbnail to your offer, this is extremely important. This should be a square image or it will be automatically cropped, we don’t want any of your message cut off. The standard size 90 pixels by 90 pixels. As you can see this isn’t a very big image, so keep it simple, clean and bold.

Once your offer is live be sure you Pin the offer post to the top of your Facebook page. Now for the next 7 days every visitor to your Facebook page will see your offer first.

Be Specific
Your offer should not be complex to understand or complicated to redeem. Think about one product or service you want to offer and make it simple. Facebook recommends your discount be at least 20% off, so look at your pricing and find a great twist. How about buy 1 get 1 free (their college can join the training program for free or something fun!) that’s a 50% discount right there!

Spread the Word
While Facebook Offers themselves are very viral within Facebook (see the video above to see how), why not take an extra step? Use your other social channels to drive more awareness about your offer. Pin your offer image on Pinterest, Tweet about it and let your LinkedIn connections know about it. Don’t forget to blog about your offer too.

Have fun with Facebook Offers!

Use the New Facebook Page Features to Reach More Prospects

We’ve been testing some of the new targeting features on Facebook, they’re pretty cool! We’ve had a bunch of questions come in from clients so we wanted to share some of the insights we’ve had so far, check it out.

Page Post Targeting

This is available to Facebook Page Administrators to target their audience by age, gender, likes and more. This is not currently available to all Page owners yet, as they are rolling out this new feature.
This is going to give you the opportunity to tailor content to specific audiences and really increase engagement!

So you can frame the same post in different ways that will connect with your different prospect segments. One thought would be to target your younger audience with lingo they are used to using and seeing, then to target your more mature audience, you can use the language that engages them. Now both segments could have a much higher engagement rank, which means higher returns!

Promote Page Posts

Now you can showcase your most important and exciting posts. You have two options, you can promote to those who like your page, or to those who like your page AND their friends! Reach out to people that may have never seen your content.

Here’s a new opportunity to reach a warm audience and extend your reach on Facebook.

We’ve used this in so many ways already. From promoting some really strong content we knew the audiences would love, to promoting free calls and webinars. This is a great way to ensure a post gets in front of your audience.

Have you used these two new features? Let us know!

From Videos Overwhelm to Video Bliss – 3 Tips for Repurposing Videos

Video marketing is increasingly popular with online marketers around the world and is a great way to get your message out to your audience. It’s being used in various ways to deliver one’s message to anywhere their target audience is. For example, on YouTube there are more than 3 billion video views per day and 6- hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute.

Whether you’re a local business, an online marketer, a media company or a solopreneur video marketing can benefit your company. We know creating videos can take a lot of work, especially if you’re not comfortable in front of the camera. However, once you create the videos you can use them in these 3 ways to get more from each video:

Blog Posts – Write a short description about the video and embed it in your blog to create a blog post from it. Video blogging helps you connect with your audience in a different blogging format – it includes both audio and visual.

Facebook – Share the videos you have created on your Facebook fan page. They can be watched right on Facebook and will give your audience variety when it comes to the type of content you share. It can also give your company a competitive advantage while increasing your YouTube stats!

Video Optin – Create a free giveaway (optin) with a few of your videos that will encourage individuals to sign up. After the individual opts-in for your video series send your new contact one video a week. This is a great way to stay in front of them with the content they want and it helps to build rapport with your new contact. Ensure your videos provide valuable content or tips for your target audience.
